Project '93 - Goblin Spearmen

I had to take down my original post because I accidently included some personal information.

D&D Miniatures: Shadows Of Ravenfell

My Wife and I both ended up getting this same set. She had painted hers last year and I am just now got around to painting mine.

Shadows of Ravenfell - Reaper Bones Kickstarter V Exclusive

Used the Slap Chop Priming Method and used Army Builder Speed Paints and Normal Paints.

I really loved how the torch came out on the vampire hunter. I have always had a hard time painting flames effects and have them come out looking decent.

D&D Miniatures: Charnel Pit of the Ghoul Queen

In order to really get started working on the models for my '93 Project. I first need to finalize a bunch of models I have been working on that I got in a Reaper Kickstarter.

Charnel Pit of the Ghoul Queen- Reaper Bones Kickstarter V Exclusive

Another Kickstarter Exclusive that Reaper hasnot reproduced any of these miniatures as far as I can tell.

Great Diorama Set.

This was actually a lot of fun to paint and I used it as a opportunity to try out some new techniques.

I used the slap-chop method on every miniature and then painted the base colors using Citadel Contrast Paints and Shades in addition to using Army Builder Speed Paints.

I highlighted using Vallejo, Army Painters and D&D Paint.

D&D Miniatures: The Bridge Troll's Toll

In order to really get started working on the models for my '93 Project. I first need to finalize a bunch of models I have been working on that I got in a Reaper Kickstarter.

I am really glad I decided to get this kit when it was offered because they have not reproduced any of these miniatures as far as I can tell.

I recently decided to get in my great pile of shame and start painting some of this stuff.

Project '93 - Taking Stock Part 2

I held off on posting this as I was waiting for a few parcels to be delivered.

Back to the 90's

So next in my pile of 90's goodness are 23 Orc Mono-Pose Warriors and Archers

I now also have the seven missing goblin spearmen to fill our the original 32 and replace a couple of damaged ones.

I also have gotten an late 80's early  90's Orc Spear Chukka with 2/3 of original crew

And that about does it for most of my Pre-2000 miniatures.

Newer Stuff

Now over the years I did acquire 2 complete Battle for Skull Pass Set

With these two sets, it gives me:

  • 80 Night Goblin Spearmen
  • 40 Night Goblin Archers
  • 20 Forest Goblin Spider Riders
  • 4 Night Goblin characters (Big Boss and Shaman)
  • 2 Troll (+2 more I picked up off of flea bay)
  • 2 Goblin Shaman Tents (Great for Baggage if I play 3rd Ed)
  • misc scenery items

The only thing I am now missing to make this army complete is:

  • A orc on a wyvern
  • A proper goblin chariot (I have a line on one of these)
  • Command Team for Orc Warriors and Orc Archers.

These things are things I think I can wait on for a bit as I work my way through what I already have.

What about all of those dwarves?

Those two box sets also come with a boat load of dwarves also.

  • 24 Dwarf Warriors
  • 20 Dwarf Thunderers
  • 16 Dwarf Miners
  • 2 Dwarf Cannon with crew
  • 4 Dwarf characters (Thane and Dragon Slayer)

So I already own 3,500 to 4,500 points worth of dwarves, most of which (85%) is pre-2000's era models.

I have come to the decision I am going to have two separate dwarven armies. One Pre-2000 and one Post-2000, with the Post 2000 one is to be based on 25mm bases so I can run it with the Warhammer The Old World and for Dragon Rampant.

A project for much later

Next Step

Now that I got a good idea of what I got, I now need to clean up my painting desk. That means I need to finish up all of the models that are currently in a WIP state.

Then I need to start stripping some of the goblins I got that were pre-painted.

These are from miniature kits I got from Reaper Miniature's Kickstarter(s) that I am working on for my D&D Campaigns and Convention Games.

  • The Charnal Pit of the Ghoul Queen
  • The Tree of Woe
  • The Bridge Troll's Toll
  • Shadows of Ravenhome

I am almost done with these and then it is off to gobbo town.

Cheers everyone!
